Can You Lose Weight By Skipping Dinner?

Skipping dinnerIf you’re trying to lose weight or maintain the weight you have, it’s best to stop eating about two or three hours before you go to bed just to avoid those extra, unnecessary calories.  But that doesn’t mean you should completely skip dinner. Skipping meals is not a healthy or recommended way to lose weight. If you skip dinner, next day, you’ll probably eat more for breakfast and lunch. You will have more appetite because body tend to balance calories. In the long run it will actually lead to more fat gains, along with muscle loss.

By some researches, meal skippers had elevated fasting glucose levels and a delayed insulin response If such condition persist long term it could lead to diabetes.

Also, If you skip dinner every day your body goes into starvation mode. It will slow down your metabolism, natural fat burning mechanisms are reduced, and body holds on to those calories and stores them as fat instead of burning them as energy. At best, you will not lose weight as fast as it possible.

Instead, eat the dinner few hours before go to sleep and if you have cravings,  take some healthy snacks like fruits or vegetables. This way your body has enough time to digest the food and start burning the calories. You will burn even more fat overnight. During the night, blood sugar level drops below its usual level and you get a slight hypoglycemia. Because of this, your body starts to release growth hormones and testosterone at night. Those hormones will simply melt your fat.

Just stick with the old proverb: “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.” Jump-start the metabolism with healthy breakfast, have nice, filling lunch and eat a light dinner. That way , you are on safe and natural way of losing weight.
